๐Ÿ“Œ Morpeth, Northumberland
โ˜…โ˜…

This low-key but enjoyable, one-way ramble follows the River Wansbeck as it grows from a minor inland river at Morpeth to a wide estuary south of Newbiggin, followed by a fine clifftop stroll ending at the gentle curve of Newbiggin Bay. With riverside, woodland, farmland and coastal sections, carpets of bluebell in spring, blackberries in autumn, and the all-important cafe in Wansbeck Country Park, this is truly a walk for all seasons (though part of the river’s lower course is a little monotonous).
