๐Ÿ“Œ Miniature railway & heritage centre in Grantown-on-Spey, Highland
โ˜…โ˜…

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Grantown East closed in January 2023. I’ll keep this page live for now in case it reopens (checked April 2024)

Grantown-on-Spey used to have two railway stations – one on the northwest side of town, and the other to the southeast. Both closed to passenger services in 1965, but the old station buildings at Grantown East were redeveloped 50 years later as a quirky heritage hub. The focal “Heritage and Cultural Centre” is mostly just a shop with a few information boards, but tickets are also sold here for the neighbouring miniature railway – fun for kids, and being extended in 2021. There is also an excellent-looking restaurant inside old railway carriages (full-size ones, obviously!), with pizzas fresh from the pizza oven attached to the dining car.
