📌 Melvaig, Highland
★★★★

The Stevenson lighthouse at Rubha Rèidh marks the far northwestern corner of Gairloch, with views to the islands of Skye, Lewis & Harris on a clear day. Reached by a narrow tarmac road, the coastline beyond becomes even more tortuous for adventurers continuing on foot. Rough paths climb above a succession of spectacular cliffs, natural arches and sea stacks before eventually descending to Camas Mòr; this sandy beach is only a mile from the road as the eagle flies, but has an end-of-the-world feel – and is very likely to be deserted.
