Gaineamh Mhòr is the Gaelic name for Gairloch’s main beach, found on west facing coastline about a mile south of the village centre. In addition to the wide arc of sand, there are great views of the bay from the rocky knoll of An Àrd to the south, and similarly from a roadside viewpoint to the north. The beach is overlooked by the craggy slopes of Meall Achadh Deisteil, and paths lead inland into beautiful Flowerdale Glen from the other side of the beach car park.
