📌 Strachan, Aberdeenshire
★★★

Kerloch’s broad dome rises above extensive forestry east of the Cairn o’ Mount road pass. The usual way up from Knockhill is all on clear tracks through fields, forest and finally heather – though fantastic fungus displays were the highlight on our autumn visit. Below and above the wooded middle section there are good views north, with Banchory, Clachnaben and Mount Battock all part of the summit panorama. We suggest returning the same way, as the potential circuit via Little Kerloch and Melmannoch is impeded by new deer fences.
