πŸ“Œ Waterfall near Loch Maree, Highland
β˜…β˜…

This multi-tiered affair is much less impressive than their famous namesake on Africa’s Zambezi River, but both are named after Queen Victoria, who visited the Scottish version in 1877. Today, us peasants can use a waymarked forestry trail climbing alongside the Abhainn Garbhaig, with nearly the full height of the falls visible from an initial viewing platform – though the view is somewhat distant, and parts of the plunge are obscured by vegetation in high summer. A little further along the path, the upper cataract is visible at close quarters, and beyond this a panoramic view of Loch Maree opens up before the path curves back to the parking area.
