The Caithness Horizons Museum in Thurso was one of the two flagship museums in Caithness – the other being Wick Heritage Museum. Covering all aspects of Caithness life as diverse as traditional music and literature to the Dounreay nuclear power station, we were sad to see it close in 2019 due to financial difficulties. Fortunately a rebranding and reopening project saw it reopen in 2021 as the North Coast Visitor Centre, no doubt hoping to tap into the ever-growing North Coast 500 tourist market.
