πŸ“Œ Kilmory, Isle of Arran
β˜…β˜…β˜…

And then there were two! For years, Lochranza Distillery has been the only whisky distillery on the Isle of Arran, but in 2017 the owners branched out to build a sister site, this time on the island’s south coast near Kilmory. Lagg Distillery opened in 2017 and stepping into the airy entrance foyer is quite an experience: the building is spectacular, with soaring walls and balconies decorated with island heritage. Add in an exhibition area, smart shop, two cafes (with mouthwatering menus which we didn’t have time to test out) and a balcony with views to Ailsa Craig – the tour seems worth the money before it’s even started! Spirit production is confined to a single bright room, simplifying the process for those new to whisky, but making this part of the tour seem relatively brief. Lagg whisky hasn’t had time to mature yet (as of 2022), but we believe there will be a focus on peated expressions. For now, tastings feature bottlings from Lochranza Distillery instead.
