Carnoustie is a coastal resort known for its golf links – but perhaps its beach ought to be better known too. Sand stretches west all the way from the town’s main station, around Buddon Ness to Monifieth and beyond; meanwhile, the coast to the east has a huge expanse of rocks good for rock-pooling. Almost all of this is submerged at high tide, so check times before you go.
