The aquarium at Tynemouth is the only one in northeast England, found adjacent to the excellent beach of Tynemouth Longsands (are your day trip plans forming already?). Seal shows, a short shark tunnel and “river giants” are some of the star attractions, with obvious appeal for children, families or rainy days. With Newcastle and the other Tyneside towns within easy reach, the aquarium can understandably become very busy at weekends and during school holidays; consider visiting outwith these times if possible.
