This is the biggest of Tynemouth‘s beaches, stretching for about a mile between Sharpness Point and North Point. Popular with surfers on our visit, there are low cliffs and rock outcrops at either end which add interest to the soft bit in between, as well as a few beachfront cafes. Tynemouth Aquarium is just on the inland side of the esplanade midway along the beach.
