📌 Kirkwall, Orkney Mainland
★★★

Wideford Hill Chambered Cairn is a well-preserved but curiously little-visited tomb on the west flank of Wideford Hill. There are excellent views across the Bay of Firth from the approach path, with a steep climb to return to the car park after exploring the gloomy interior. Entrance to the cairn involves climbing down a ladder from a new access hatch, which is probably easier than the original crawl along the entrance passageway would have been.

💬 From the layby it’s a 15-min (each way) downhill walk to the cairn on a steep path ( Easy to Moderate). Torch essential – though one should also be available on site
