📌 Ochil Hills, Perth & Kinross
★★★

This horseshoe route around the head of Glen Sherup is accessed from the scenic A-road that cuts deeply through the Ochil Hills between Yetts o’ Muckhart and Gleneagles. The high point at Tarmangie Hill is connected to broad, grassy ridges, giving a great feeling of open space without too much energy-sapping descent and reascent in between summits – though Ben Shee at the very end requires another short, steep climb. The initial ascent, once out of the trees, offers superb views over Kinross-shire and the Firth of Forth if you look over your shoulder; further on in the circuit, the higher western Ochils dominate the skyline, eventually being outshone by the gunbarrel of Glen Eagles leading towards to the distant Highlands.
