📌 Barcaldine, Argyll & Bute
★★★

On the slopes above Barcaldine, countless Douglas Firs tower above the boulder-filled gorge of Glen Dubh. Fed by a reservoir further up the Abhainn Teithil, the rapids and small waterfalls are a great destination for a rainy day – even more so if the burn is in spate. Waymarked trails explore the lower part of the forest, but this circuit climbs a little further to a viewpoint on the reservoir’s south bank, before returning on quiet tracks.
