This circular walk links two towns at the heart of Speyside – Dufftown and Aberlour – by following old railway beds, returning over a low hill. The circuit passes close to several whisky distilleries and a ruined castle, and follows the rivers Fiddich and Spey for several miles, making this perhaps the perfect introduction to what Speyside’s all about, distilled into a single walk. The route could be stretched to span a very full day indeed if you stop at some of the tourist attractions – of if you pause for refreshment at some of the several cafes, delis, restaurants or shops along the way.
