π Kinghorn, Fife

The Fife Coastal Path north of Kinghorn passes through attractively rocky scenery en route to Seafield Tower: a ruined L-shaped castle dating to the 16th century with a fine outlook over the ocean. This section of shore has a rugged feel and seabird-viewing opportunities despite proximity to the East Coast Main Line, and there are good views along the curving Fife coastline towards Largo Bay. The village of Kinghorn at the start has a fish and chip shop and numerous other local services, as well as two excellent sandy beaches (one very close to the walk start point). Seafield Tower can also be reached from Kirkcaldy to the north, but that approach is far less scenic.
