πŸ“Œ Tankerness, Orkney Mainland
β˜…β˜…β˜…

Cliffs, coves and crumbling concrete combine at Rerwick Head to create a nicely varied coastal stroll over a very short distance. WWII defences and gun emplacements add character to this stretch of coastline overlooking Shapinsay Sound – many can flood and / or are dangerous to enter, but a couple still act as excellent lookout points, often with curious seals staring right back. Further on, cliffs rise out of the sea in perfect block shapes, the seaward ends popular with shags and cormorants on our visit.
