📌 Lindisfarne, Northumberland
★★★
For a full flavour of what Lindisfarne has to offer, take a pleasant stroll around the island’s coastline, starting from the main car park. The northeast corner with its beaches, pyramidal beacon and wetland habitats seems a world away from the bustle of Holy Island village and its many tourist attractions; we spotted seals and dolphins on our midsummer visit, as well as plenty of interesting birdlife. The circuit could be walked in a couple of hours but passes the main tourist sights too; add in entry to all of these and you could stretch the route to fill a full day.
