📌 Glen Loy, Highland
★★★
Beinn Bhàn (white hill) is a mostly grassy Corbett, just on the northwest side of the Great Glen cleft near Fort William. In a region boasting numerous hills, it’s perhaps a bit neglected – after all, there are several higher and more dramatic alternatives locally – but may be a good option if the surrounding Munros are in the clouds. The summit area is a horseshoe-shaped plateau which offers superb views of the north face of Ben Nevis, Corpach Moss, Loch Lochy and Loch Arkaig, as well as sporting some attractive rocky outcrops on its northern slopes. The level, grassy turf also makes for easy walking – in direct contrast to the steep lower slopes, which are a real trial in late summer when bracken can reach head height (as we can attest!).
