The road bridge over the Abhainn Chia-aig provides a grandstand view for this handsome pair of waterfalls near Achnacarry, fed by water falling on the Loch Lochy Munros. With a car park just metres away and a southerly aspect ideal for photography, it’s perhaps surprising that the falls aren’t better known – especially considering they appeared in the 1995 film Rob Roy. The lower plunge pool is known as the Witches Cauldron, which might suggest it’s not a particularly safe spot for paddling (despite the swimmers in our photo below).

π¬ The best viewpoint for the falls is from the roadside. Steep paths also ascend the east bank (climber’s right) to reach higher viewpoints, close to steep drops – care required (⬀ Moderate).
