📌 Horgabost, Isle of Harris
★★★

In good weather, Tràigh Iar is a fine beach facing west into the Atlantic between Toe Head and the island of Taransay. With views of the beach from the main road along the west coast, this is one of the more popular beaches on Harris. But busyness is a relative thing in the Western Isles, and you certainly needn’t expect crowds – our photos on this page were taken on a bank holiday weekend. Tràigh Niosaboist is half a mile further northeast with similarly easy access from the main road, and is also worth visiting – our Àird Niosaboist walk takes in both.
