📌 Tarland, Aberdeenshire
★★

Aberdeenshire is bestowed with a large number of stone circles, but only a handful can claim to have views equal to those at Tomnaverie. The 4,000 year-old stone circle surrounds a 4,500 year-old burial or cremation cairn. Look over the top of the horizontal recumbent stone itself and there is an excellent view of Lochnagar on a clear day, perfectly framed by the vertical slabs on either side.
