๐Ÿ“Œ Village in Argyll & Bute
โ˜…โ˜…

Tighnabruaich (House on the Hill) is the largest settlement on Argyll’s “Secret Coast”, overlooking the broad lower reaches of the Kyles of Bute. It’s still tiny, and the colourful strip of shops on the main street was very quiet both times we’ve visited – though the first time, that might have had something to do with the shinty match up the road at Kames. One thing this area seems to have in abundance is cafes; the cakes at The Tearoom are excellent, and we’ve also had a decent lunch at Five West. Tighnabruaich used to be a calling point for Clyde steamers, but (most of) these have now ceased and the village is now a backwater, albeit a very pleasant one. The surrounding countryside has some scenic spots – notably the wonderful beach at Kilbride Bay.
