πŸ“Œ Craigellachie, Moray
β˜…β˜…β˜…

The Macallan is one of the world’s best-selling single malts and an instantly recognisable brand, helped by countless film and TV appearances including the 2012 Bond film Skyfall. Founded in 1824, the distillery originally matured its spirit exclusively in sherry casks, and this still underpins its core range despite a wider section of other expressions now being available. Our last tour and visit was in 2013 – five years before a complete rebuilding of the premises – so the photos below are now out of date. The new visitor “experiences” (forget tours!) take place in an entirely new building, comprised of flowing timber roofs and vast production spaces. They are clearly aimed at the wealthier end of the market, as a glance at the prices below will confirm.
