πŸ› οΈ Museum closed for refurbishment until later this year (checked April 2024)

Stranraer Museum is housed in the settlement’s old town hall, which dates from 1776. The museum is larger than it looks on the outside (it extends into an adjacent building), and generally covers the history and rural life of Wigtownshire: the historic county which Stranraer used to be in before it was swallowed up by the larger council area of Dumfries and Galloway. Farming and wildlife feature prominently.
