St Blane’s Church is found on the sparsely populated, southern headland of Bute – but it once served as the parish church for the entire island. Accessed by a narrow road followed by a short walk on foot, the 12th century ruins partially overlies an even older monastery dating to the 1500s and founded by St Catan.
