πŸ“Œ Skipness, Argyll & Bute
β˜…β˜…

Skipness is little more than a handful of cottages on the east coast of Kintyre: a generally little-visited corner of Scotland. But this northerly part of the region receives a small boost from visitors travelling to the Isle of Arran via the “back door” ferry from nearby Claonaig. If you’re doing the same, arrive early to explore nearby Skipness Castle: a substantial 13th century ruin built by Clan MacSween of even more remote Castle Sween. And don’t miss the ruins of Kilbrannan Chapel a few minutes’ walk to the east, dedicated to St Brendan and replacing the castle’s own.
