📌 Doune, Stirling

This large statue of the founder of the SAS, who was born in the immediate area, stands just off the B824 between Doune and Bridge of Allan. Overlooking the Trossachs hills, it’s worth a stop-off on the way to the National Park if you’re approaching from this direction. From the statue, the Glenhead Standing (by that, read “falling”) Stones are also visible in the field to the east.
