πŸ“Œ Isle of Sanday, Orkney Isles
β˜…β˜…

Lady Village is the most central of Sanday’s two main villages, a scattered settlement with no obvious centre. The island’s small heritage centre (opened in 2014) is located here. The first thing you’ll notice is the rock and turf structure next to the car park; Meur Burnt Mound was originally discovered on an island beach after being exposed by a storm in 2005, and has been reconstructed here in the village. Exhibits inside the main building provide a good introduction to the island’s life, wildlife and history, while a previously derelict building beyond the burnt mound has been beautifully restored inside to complete the trio of the heritage centre’s attractions.
