📌 Bedlington, Northumberland
★★

Plessey Woods Country Park borders the wooded River Blyth as it meanders through farmland between Bedlington and Cramlington, Northumberland. There are 100 acres to explore in total, but the most interesting parts are focused around the river itself, with a scenic path following along the north bank; we saw a fascinating stand-off between a mink (or maybe an otter) and a grey heron here on our 2021 visit. Red squirrels and kingfishers are among the other possible wildlife highlights; there’s also a cafe and children’s playground closer to the car park.
