๐Ÿ“Œ McPhater Street, Glasgow

The bagpipes are a Scottish icon, and you probably won’t get far on an itinerary around the country’s main tourist sights without hearing a piper, or at least bagpipe music being played in a visitor centre or souvenir shop. Happily there’s also a permanent place in the city of Glasgow to see how the instrument has evolved over the centuries across Scotland and beyond, sometimes with demonstrations and even opportunities to try playing them yourself. The exhibition area – within the National Piping Centre – is small but well presented; allow half an hour or so to look around.
