๐Ÿ“Œ Melvich, Highland
โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…

Melvich Bay is another of the many fine beaches along the central part of Scotland’s north coast, with the mouth of the Halladale River at one end, and Portskerra pier at the other. Two different paths from the car park – one taking a direct route to the beach, the other detouring via the river bank – can be combined to form an easy loop with scenic views of wetland, dunes, sand and sea. Care should be taken not to disturb breeding arctic terns in and around the sand dunes behind the beach during spring and summer. We’ve enjoyed superb pizzas at the nearby Melvich Hotel, and equally fine fish and chips at the Halladale Inn – both are found on the main coast road.
