πŸ“Œ Lochranza, Isle of Arran
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Lochranza’s whisky distillery opened in 1995 – though after Lagg Distillery began production in 2017 it’s no longer the only distillery on the Isle of Arran. Its location at the foot of Gleann Easan Biorach was carefully chosen after a scientific study revealed Loch na Davie – at the head of the glen – to contain the purest water in Scotland. Our distillery tour (admittedly a while ago now) was excellent, and a perfect diversion on a rainy morning; we especially liked the indulgent cream liqueur. Just along the road is the tiny, excellent Stags Pavilion restaurant – you’ll probably need to book.
