๐Ÿ“Œ Glenmore Forest Park, Highland
โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…

A perfect sandy beach packed with sunbathers, swimmers, kayakers and paddleboarders on warm summer days… yet Loch Morlich Beach is 30 miles from the sea, and more than 300 metres above sea level. It is one of just a handful of inland beaches in Scotland, and by far the best known, bordering freshwater Loch Morlich. That means there’s no need to worry about the state of the tide – though swimmers should still take safety precautions against cold temperatures and currents, and thick ice might be an issue on winter or spring visits. The views are pretty special, with the rear of the sands giving way to verdant Scots Pine forest. It is the often snowy northern coires of the Cairngorm Plateau rising above the southern shore which steal the show however – they’re well seen from the beach.
