Kirkcaldy really should make more out of its two mile beach, which runs down almost the entire length of the town’s eastern edge, but cut off from the High Street by a dual carriageway, ugly retail units and their car parks. The beach extends into the northern and southern suburbs, and the nicest part is probably at Linktown to the south of the town centre (where there’s a convenient car park) – hence our name for this feature page. Checking tide times is essential, as at high water the ocean comes right up to the boulder coastal defences, submerging all signs of the sand.
