๐Ÿ“Œ Bo’ness, Falkirk
โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…

Kinneil House is the centrepiece to a large estate by the south side of the Forth estuary at Bo’ness. A small museum gives the history of the estate and town, but the really interesting part is the house itself, open on a few days each year. This was built in stages in the 16th and 17th centuries, and boasts some wonderful Renaissance painted walls and ceilings. The grounds are worth investigation too, with a Roman fortlet, ruined church and woodland walks to explore. A ruined building behind the house was also the workshop where famous inventor James Watt pioneered his first steam engine in the 1760s.
