πŸ“Œ Millhouse, Argyll & Bute
β˜…β˜…β˜…

The quality of the sand isn’t bad, but neither is it the finest in Scotland by any means. So what makes Kilbride Bay so special? It’s got to be the wonderful view of Arran which opens up when you crest the final ridge of dunes, perfectly framed by the edges of the beach. Or perhaps it’s the surprise factor: the Cowal Peninsula has a wealth of beautiful scenery, but something it doesn’t have in abundance is sandy bays, which makes this one mile expanse (at low tide) all the more unexpected. The beach lies on Argyll’s so-called Secret Coast, but the row of cars at the layby on our March visit confirmed that the secret’s well and truly out about Kilbride Bay despite the walk required to reach it. There’s no need to worry about crowds though. “Busy” in Cowal is a relative term, i.e. two or three other people on the beach at the same time as us.
