If you’re heading to Largs by car, there’s a good chance that the final approach will be across the hills from Kilbirnie. This high-level cruise abruptly comes to an end with a hairpin descent to the coast. Just before the first of these bends, a car park on the right gives access to a picnic area. From here, a 2-minute uphill walk brings you to a charming viewpoint overlooking the Clyde coast. Trees restrict the view a little, but you could walk a bit further to reach an even better viewpoint, which is also accessible on foot from Largs itself.
