๐Ÿ“Œ Map sculpture in Eddleston, Scottish Borders
โ˜…โ˜…

Found in the grounds of Barony Castle Hotel in the Scottish Borders, The Great Polish Map of Scotland is one of Scotland’s biggest surprises – literally. This map is no ordinary map: it’s a colossal, 50 x 40 metre relief map of the country, impressive in its accuracy and its detail. Despite an elevated viewing platform, it’s difficult to fully appreciate its overall shape on foot; browse the web for photographs taken from the air. The map was crafted in the 1970s as the brainchild of Polish war veteran Jan Tomasik, who was stationed in the region during World War II and bought the hotel in 1968. The map has been quite a spectacle for hotel guests in the decades since, but is accessible to the wider public too.
