📌 Strathdon, Aberdeenshire
★★

🛠️ Castle closed for long term conservation work (checked April 2024)

Glenbuchat Castle is a characterful 16th century ruin in the quiet upper part of Strathdon. This Z-plan tower house used to belong to the wealthy Gordon clan of nearby Huntly, falling into ruin after being sold by the family in the 1700s. With Kildrummy a few miles down the glen and Corgarff just a little further in the other direction, this is a great region in which to spend a day touring castles.
