📌 Embleton, Northumberland
★★★

Embleton Bay is another fine, Northumberland beach, a few miles south of the similarly-sized beach at Beadnell. The two are quite different, however: Embleton Bay has no facilities (except a golf club) or proper parking arrangements (the side of the road will have to do), which keeps the sands relatively quiet – see our photo above, taken late morning on a sunny July weekend. Dunstanburgh Castle is prominent on the headland to the south; it’s an straightforward walk of just over a mile to the castle from here, but we prefer visiting the ruins from Craster, further south still.
