The roofless ruin of Eassie Old Church is accessed from a loop of old road a couple of miles west of Glamis Castle. The building probably dates to the 1500s but incorporates elements of a previous, 13th century church. The oldest feature of all is housed in a glass shelter inside the ruin: a 7th century Pictish stone, recovered from the nearby burn in the 1780s. It features a fine interlaced cross, angels, animals, mythical beasts, cloaked figures and other Pictish symbols across its two sides. Take some time to admire the ornate gravestones in the surrounding kirkyard.
