Bellabeg, Aberdeenshire
โ˜…

You can’t fail to miss the prominent mound known as the Doune of Invernochty from the A944 through Bellabeg, Strathdon. A 12th century castle once stood on top of the enormous motte, and although almost nothing remains of it today, the earthworks are still impressive and can be climbed easily enough. Follow the road sign to the hamlet of Lost in order to find the parking area – otherwise you may become so.
