πŸ“Œ Sligachan, Isle of Skye
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

A hotel, old bridge, and one of the most awesome roadside views in Britain – Sligachan has few facilities, but this is a very special spot. The Sligachan Hotel chose well when they relocated here in 1830, with their bar serving good food to weary walkers and climbers in sociable surroundings. Each July, the Glamaig hill race departs from here, the target being the unmissable dome-shaped peak directly to the east, lit up by afternoon sunshine. In the morning, the nose of the Black Cuillin mountain range steals the show – a jagged mass of unlikely pinnacles, buttresses, coires and 11 Munros, looking as if someone burnt the Alps to a crisp and dropped the twisted remains here on the Misty Isle. That being said, Skye’s changeable climate means that views of any of the above are far from guaranteed!
