📌 Evanton, Highland

The long, narrow reaches of the Cromarty Firth provide an ideal habitat for seals, and the best place to see them is said to be on the north side of the Cromarty Bridge, where 100+ seals can reputedly haul out at low tide between Foulis Point and Ardullie Point. Viewing is convenient – though not especially peaceful – with a southbound layby on the busy A9 road overlooking the muddy foreshore. However, we’ve found sightings to be unreliable; it took us several visits before our first, distant seal sightings here in 2023. There are certainly several better spots elsewhere in Scotland.
