Crichton Church is the former collegiate church for nearby Crichton Castle, built in the 1440s to allow daily prayers to be offered to the Crichton family. The church’s decorations and some of its structure was damaged by Reformation changes, before resurrection as a parish church around 1825. Worship services here are now infrequent, but the building continues to thrive as a concert and wedding venue – and on a warm and sunny day, it’s difficult to imagine a better spot.
