The sands of Burghead Bay stretch for 7 glorious miles between the headland villages of Burghead and Findhorn in a northwest-facing arc. Despite the name, we’ve generally found the best part of the beach to be at the western, Findhorn end – though that might depend on recent weather and wind direction (or which local person you’re talking to!). Whichever part you end up visiting, there’s miles of quiet sand to choose from at low tide – though rock-poolers should go elsewhere.
