π Village on the Isle of Arran
β
With whitewashed buildings clustered around a tiny half-harbour, Blackwaterfoot is one of Arran’s most attractive settlements, with direct access from Brodick and the main ferry terminal via the scenic String Road. Its population can’t be more than 100 or so, but the village provides a focal point for the southwest side of the island, offering places to eat, accommodation, a small newsagents and a golf course. The nearby beach is one of Arran’s best, and the local coastline offers up some excellent walk options. The famous standing stones at Machrie Moor are a couple of miles away to the north.
