The Bay of Lopness is a beach attached to Sanday’s smooth eastern armpit. Though attractive enough, the crescent-shaped coastline is unexceptional but for the visible 1919 wreck of a German destroyer just offshore, visible above the surface at lowish tide levels (we took the photos on this page at mid-tide). Pay a visit on the way to Start Point.
