πŸ“Œ Village in West Dunbartonshire
β˜…β˜…

Balloch is the settlement nearest the foot of Loch Lomond, where its waters empty into the short River Leven. The area is quite a built-up one – merging with Alexandria, Renton and Bonhill to the south to create a sizeable conurbation – but cast your eyes north and the open spaces of the Highlands beckon, with the popular Munro of Ben Lomond visible from Balloch pier. The numerous nearby tourist sites range from animal attractions to a shopping centre with a difference – and most seem to be capitalising on the Loch Lomond name, as evidenced by the list further down this page. The most attractive part of the town itself is in the immediate vicinity of the railway station and river, and won’t keep you occupied for long; most of the other local interest borders the loch itself.
